KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.20 g, 6 h), Lampsakos, struck under Kalas or Demarchos, circa 328/5-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [A]ΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, Demeter standing facing, holding two torches; below throne, monogram. Price 1356. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die and with some light scratches, otherwise, about very fine.
